Got Light applies a fresh approach to lighting, audio, video, staging, and drape in the special event and wedding industry. We produce hundreds of events each year including some of the most notable events in the City, including major opening parties and social galas. ABOUT THIS JOB:
We’re looking for a hands-on leader to be our next Senior Manager of Field Development to help grow our Field team at Got Light — someone who can coach, train, and mentor our crew while also rolling up their sleeves on-site to make sure our work reflects the Got Light Signature Style. This role is all about strengthening our brand in the field, developing people, and making sure every event runs smoothly and safely. Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Operations, this position will work closely with Field Management and Crew, regularly teaming up with other departments to keep Got Light's brand of signature style of production on every event.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Team Management & Development
  • Develop and implement strategies to hire, train, coach, and mentor Field staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to succeed. 
  • Oversee day-to-day on-site Field operations, including quality control and safety compliance. 
  • Coach team members in real time and in regular 1:1 check-ins to provide feedback, dialog, and guidance on opportunities for growth and pathways for promotion. 
  • Monitor and analyze Field performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Serve as an accessible resource for all crew on topics including but not limited to: technical questions/training, Field crew managerial questions, client relations questions, union management, and signature style.
Training 
  • Develop, document, and oversee Got Light’s new hire training program, as well as ongoing training and development for an ever growing pool of field Design Managers and Design Manager Associates Perform Truck Driver Training.
  • Create and lead training related to Client Relations, Union Management, Crew Management, Event Management, Got Light’s Signature Style, Production Skills & Safety,  Design Execution, Equipment & Gear, etc.
  • Obtain OSHA Lift Training Certification and certify GL employees in the proper and safe operation of scissor, boom, and personnel lifts.
  • Perform and/or coordinate specialized trainings as needed including:
  • Generator & Power Training
  • Lighting Console Training
  • Basic Audio/Video Training
Keeping Things Running Smoothly
  • Working in close concert with the Senior manager of Field Operations
  • Develop and implement standardized procedures and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency. 
  • Manage annual performance reviews and ad-hoc performance improvement processes for a team of approximately 60-80.
  • Support in planning and communication around benefits eligibility for DMs on a rolling basis.
  • Keep the field team in the loop with regular updates on gear, tech, and production changes.
  • Maintain updated documentation of vital venue info while onsite — load-in, power updates, etc. 
  • Collaborate with the broader Got Light team as required, to help streamline and/or memorialize SOPs.  
Connecting with Other Teams 
  • Provide input into strategic and operational planning, serving as a member of Got Light’s Department Head team.
  • Represent the Field Department at cross-functional team meetings (Sales, Production, Event Heads, etc) to discuss upcoming events, production needs, and address challenges in advance of each event.
  • Act as an ongoing, accessible, and reliable resource for the Sales and Production Teams, advising on feasibility of sold designs and appropriate staffing levels, or to help troubleshoot timely issues as they arise.
  • Participate in weekly departmental meetings with Field Team SMFO and Crew Manager to team up and identify which events and/or crews need support
  • Co-lead quarterly in-person DM Meetings, collaborating with the broader Field Management team on strategies, agendas, meeting goals, materials/documentation, and follow through of meeting takeaways
REQUIREMENTS:   
  • A Minimum of an Associate's Degree or a related degree

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in field and/or event operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
Technical Skills: 
  • Base knowledge of Lighting, Audio, Visual, & General Production is required.
  • Proficient with Apple Products, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Slack, project management software such as Asana nice to have. 
  • Bonus:  Certifications in Forklifts, Booms, Scissors, Rigging, or Electrical.
Communication:
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team-Oriented: 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and team-driven.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively. 
  • Ability to deliver and respond to constructive criticism and effective feedback.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during long shifts.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both indoors and outdoors, in varying temperatures.

  • Flexible On-site,  Office, or WFH scheduled, typically M-F: 9am-5pm

COMPENSATION:
  • $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually, depending on experience.
