Production Operator

Supervisor’s Title:               Production Team Lead

Department:                        Production

Exempt Status:Hourly

 

Job Summary

Perform all functions related to grain milling and sifting, grain storage/movement, product flow, and manufacturing of finished products.

 

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Operate production/cleaning line equipment and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Verify product integrity during the manufacturing process.
  • Assist the Maintenance team in repairing, maintaining, and installing equipment as required.
  • Perform minor repairs or general maintenance as required.
  • Perform equipment or product changeovers as designated by the Production Manager.
  • Ensure the work areas are kept clean and free of debris and foreign material.
  • Develop a basic understanding of equipment functions, standard operating procedures, and job safety analysis.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance procedures on cleaning line/production equipment.
  • Communicate with plant personnel from other departments on equipment troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Package finished product.
  • Provide on-the-job training for employees.
  • Complete daily production logs and shift reports, including all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) forms.
  • Operate and adjust production equipment to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Ensure that all quality control checks are being completed and documented.
  • All employees are responsible for reporting food safety problems to their supervisor or to someone with the authority to take action.
  • All employees must identify any risk of intentional harm to the facility, personnel, or products. All employees are responsible for reporting unauthorized individuals to their supervisor or a manager, who will confront the individual and/or escort them from the site.
  • Time stress associated with fast-paced work and multitasking requirements.

Additional Functions

  • Liaison with other production personnel to ensure that the production plan is being followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required.
  • Ability to follow and execute plans.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Production Operator II Qualifications:

 

  • Must work for Glanbia for one year as an Operator I.
  • Fully master the entire skill set necessary to operate the plant's Heat Treatment System from beginning to end.
    1. Run the SPJ/UPX rooms and controls.
    2. Supply goods to the Heat Treatment System.
    3. Run Heat Treatment Packaging.
    4. Operate the Heat Treatment Palletizing System in the warehouse, including stretch wrapping and labeling of pallets. This also covers product setup for initiating a new production run.
    5. Clean the Heat Treatment System.
  • Master the skills needed to operate the Milling and Sifting for all three Mills and Sifters.
  1. Operate both the Brown and Golden Seed Optical Sorters.
  2. Supply goods to the Raw Packaging System.
  3. Run Raw Packaging.
  4. Operate the Raw Palletizing System in the warehouse from stretch wrapping to labeling of pallets. This includes setting up products for a new production run.
  5. Clean the Milling and Sifting System.
  • Master the operation of the Blending Line.
  • Receive Bulk Flax Trucks.
  • Effective troubleshooting and responding to problems as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Must work effectively with team members to safely produce a quality product while adhering to all company policies and values.
  • Maintain good attendance.

  • May be subject to humidity, intense heat, areas with possible air contamination, and toxic chemicals.
