About this Role:
We are recruiting for a Research Scientist III (Social/Behavioral Sciences) or (Epidemiology/Biostatistics).Under general direction of the Research Scientist (RS) Supervisor I, the RS III (Social/Behavioral) or RS III (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) will apply theoretical models and statistical/research methods of the social/behavioral sciences to plan, organize, and direct scientific research studies of a highly developed scientific scope and complexity and apply scientific approaches to critically evaluate health care utilization, quality of care, and access to effective and appropriate healthcare services and health outcomes for beneficiaries in the Medi-Cal healthcare system. The RS III will lead the preparation of datasets, reports, and other products based on expert knowledge and experience with DHCS' Management Information System/Decision Support System (MIS/DSS), and coordinate with DHCS' External Quality Review Organizations (EQRO) to ensure quality and access through equity-driven performance metrics. The RS III will identify and obtain needed external data sources to support development of data reports and data pulls linking data from various data sources to create data sets.
Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position for current California civil service employees. T&D assignments cannot exceed 24 months. However, successful T&D candidates may transition to a permanent appointment, if eligible at the end of the T&D assignment. Have questions and/or need assistance? This position is currently eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in person a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
