Job Summary

This position will assist the Head Coach in administering all phases of the Track and Field/Cross Country program. Primary duties include recruiting, team travel and equipment, and practice and game coaching. Other duties include monitoring the academic progress of the student athletes, helping in the development of team unity and individual character, and representing the department and institution to internal and external constituents. The position will fully comply with institutional, PBC, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

COACHING AND ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT: Assist in planning and leading daily training sessions tailored to event groups (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, hurdles, etc.). Provide individualized feedback and performance analysis to student-athletes. Support athlete development by implementing injury prevention strategies and working collaboratively with athletic trainers and strength coaches.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Contribute to program planning, including scheduling, budgeting, and equipment inventory. Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Collaborate with other athletic department staff to promote the program and support broader athletic department goals.

RECRUITING: Develop a good relationship with the coaches and contacts of high schools, junior colleges, clubs and community-sponsored groups. Contact and evaluate local, state, national and international prospective student athletes. Conduct official and unofficial visits on campus. Maintain knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules to pass the annual certification test. Coordinate recruiting efforts with NCAA Compliance Officer as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with one year of related experience in coaching. CPR certification completion within one month of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B3

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
